Gemini comes into The Place with a couple of totes. She sets them on
the counter and starts unloading Gladware.

"I couldn't think of a better place to share leftovers, " she says, as
she sets a container of roast pork next to the bowl of baked potatoes.
"My parents came from a Christmas Eve dinner. We had a lovely time, but
I've got lots of pork roast left. Also, salad and potatoes. Help
yourself."

While walking past the coffeehouse, I noticed a wonderful aroma.....

"Is that roast pork I smell?" I ask, sticking my head in the door.

"Yesitshuriz," Diana responds, talking around a large bite of baked potato.
"Follow your head inside and fill a plate. Gemini's our best cook!"

roast. The potatoes are easy. The pie is my mom's recipe. I borrow
from the best."

"I may just help myself to some, thank you. It's cold outside and I worked
up a
powerful appetite on my walk." Max shakes off the cold, and hangs his heavy
flannel
coat on a nearby rack.
Max looks around while he fills his plate, and then looks at all the food.
"Are you
expecting a large crowd today?"

Diana looks at Gemini and hesitates, wondering how to properly phrase a
response to the question. Finally deciding, she aims her brightest smile at
their welcome visitor. "Yes," she asserts bravely, if not entirely
confidently. "Yes, we are expecting a large crowd! Today! Yes, a large
crowd today. Yes. Quite."

Gemini looks around as well, noticing several people who stopped in
without saying hello to everyone. She says hello to several people who
haven't
stopped in in a while.

"Yes, we've got a big crowd today. Isn't it grand?"

Oh, not at all, Max. Just wish we had a bit more company in the Place -- it
used to be full of interesting people -- and I'm very glad to see those who
have stopped by, large crowd or not.

kitten, who should be working, wanders into the purple pub to say hi.

"hi!!!!"

"leftovers sound good to me...we have been indulging WAY too much in the
bounty of the season...from cornish game hen, to turkey, to prime rib and
glazed ham....and all the trimmings (i love having a big family and being able
to make lots of different stops during the holiday season). the only thing i
have missed is old fashioned homemade fudge and divinity...does anyone have
any they can spare???????"

kitten offers hugs all around and then settles into a corner with a heaping
plate and a steaming mug....

Diana temporarily disappears into the kitchen, then comes out again
unwrapping a large plate of fudge. "My contribution. Sorry I didn't make
divinity, kitten. I never have, actually, but my grandmother used to make
it every December. Help yourselves, all."
