Season's greetings, all.

My offspring cooked a duck this year, which was lovely. I don't know if
it was better than last year's goose. (It was definitely less expensive.)

And also to you, Gemini! My daughter cooked this year, too--a turkey.
Hope the New Year is very good to you and yours.

My son and daughter are already speculating what to try next year.
We've done goose and duck. We have turkey at Thanksgiving. What
unusual, exotic entree' should we try next?

Someone suggested that our dog wants squirrel. Maybe he'd settle for
rabbit...

I'm most definitely not an exotic meat person. Don't even eat
"ordinary" meat on a daily basis. But when I'm the Christmas cook, my
fave main dish is a crown roast of pork. Very pretty to serve, as well
as lean and tasty. I put a bread-and-prune stuffing inside the ring of
chops, and for sides I make carmelized onions with walnuts, and brandied
carrots.

If I wanted to go really untraditional, I think I'd do sea
food--probably scallops in a yummy cream sauce.

This talk of food is making me hungry! Tonight we're having navy bean
soup and corn bread. What are you having?

Tonight I had some duck soup. (Made from the carcass of the dinner
entree) We've had 3 meals from ol' Daffy.

Hmmm... crown roast would be an interesting challenge for those two. I
doubt I could talk them into seafood. Not their thing. They tolerate
the occasional salmon dinner.
